Did you know that to set up a mandrel of 4000 mm, about 1300 meters of steel band have to be wound?

During pipe production, the steel band can stretch as much as 1000mm due to heat generated by the process. In order to compensate for the elongation and shrinkage of the steel band, an automatic tensioner is installed. The latest automatic tensioner developed by Technobell, together with the warning system, enables our CFW machines to run for weeks without stopping.

Technobell CFW400 discs

Did you know that the CFW4000 machine can accommodate any disc size from 400 to 4000 mm? The production of mandrel discs requires extreme precision and a skillful operator.

Aluminum beams supporting bearings are placed on the mandrel discs. The complete set of aluminum beams hold approximately 20,000 bearings. Only high quality bearings are used to ensure a long working life of the aluminum beams. Consequently, the machine operators can have less production stops.



Technobell-Anti-abrasive resins

Technobell is a producer of resins that are specifically formulated for GRP pipes production, including resins with anti-abrasive characteristics that significantly improve the lifetime of pipes used for transmission of mechanically aggressive fluids. Technobell Technology - PHTM4000

A major manufacturing and logistics challenge in the last CFW4000 project were activities regarding the preparation of individual phases with the aim of ensuring safe work and timely delivery of equipment.

The CFW4000 Pipe Hydro Testing Machine (PHTM) stands out due to its extraordinary dimensions, both in size and weight.

The manufacturing of the approximately 11-metre-long traverse was performed on one of the biggest items of machining equipment. The assembling took place in front of the hall using a 50-tonne crane. The PHTM really looks impressive.

The giant CFW4000 machine capable of producing GRP pipes up to 4m in diameter and the auxiliary machines were designed, constructed and packed in record time and are now on their way to the new owner.

As usual we built-in all the experience and knowledge accumulated so far to deliver a product that is easy and safe to use, has unparalleled production capacity and will serve its purpose for decades to come.

Technobell' Phthalic Anhydride - Double Salt Zone Reactor

Following the successful market introduction of our Maleic Anhydride Double Salt Zone Reactor (DSZR) with its superior performance compared to Single Zone Reactors, we developed the patented DSZR applicable for the production of Phthalic Anhydride (PA).

The development of a new reactor derives from the needs of catalyst manufacturers facing the challenges of the PA catalyst life cycle due to the multi-layer type of catalyst bed, where catalyst layers require different operating temperatures for their optimal performance.

The existing multi-layer PA catalyst operates with the Start-Of-Run salt temperature of about 340 ° C, while the reaction yield can reach up to 115 wt.%. During catalyst operation, the salt temperature must be constantly increased to maintain a high conversion rate and thus a yield.

However, after app. 3.5 years of catalyst in operation, salt temperature exceeds 350 ° C, where a significant negative effect, in terms of performance reduction, is visible mainly on the last catalyst layer, resulting in non-economical production leading to the catalyst change.

Technobell’s Phthalic Anhydride Double Salt Zone Reactor offers a complete solution where the main reaction zone temperature increases over time according to the reaction performance with the aim of maintaining the highest reaction yield, and the bottom reactor zone temperature is maintained at the optimal level for the last catalyst layer, which is only possible in DSZR due to its unique ability of separately controlled salt temperatures in the two zones.

The positive effect is shown in the guaranteed significant catalyst lifecycle extension, as the last catalyst layer performance reduction is much slower, resulting in a reduction of reactor OPEX.

Update on CFW4000 project – 2.

A suitably shaped cam plate is an important part of a Continuous Filament Winding machine. This cam plate for the CFW4000 machine with a diameter of 4.3 meters and weighing approx. 4 tons was annealed for 30 hours, in order to remove internal stresses and to strengthen it. Afterwards the surface was treated with a triaxial drilling milling machine.

Update on CFW4000 project – 1.

It took us four working days to assemble the basic construction of the CFW4000 machine: the frame and the mandrel casing. When assembled, only the CFW4000 machine will be 7.6 meters high, 10.5 meters wide and 31 meters long. Due to the machine dimensions our partners built a special bridge crane which extends to only a few inches below the roof of the production hall.
